Sights and Sounds

Looking Glass artist Tom Ferraro, was commissioned to paint a 45’ x 9’ mural on West Third and Cascade streets in Erie. The idea for the mural, which covers a wall that was once covered in graffiti, began with a conversation between property owner and centenarian, Ester Tregler, 101,  and Ferraro. The mural was inspired by Tregler’s view from her upstairs window overlooking Erie’s west bayfront and her experience playing the French horn in the Erie Philharmonic Orchestra. A group of eighth grade  students from Mother Teresa Academy in Erie, led by art teacher Samantha Nordlund, helped develop the idea. along with Gannon University student, Cassidy Cartwright.  The project was a collaboration with Gannon University, the Our West Bayfront neighborhood group and KeyBank. The mural is one of three murals along Cascade Street on which Ferraro has collaborated .
