Seasons of Flight
The St. Joseph’s Apartment complex is a senior living facility in Erie’s Frontier area. The LGAP once again teamed up with HANDS to tell a story about the building, the residents and the cycle of life itself. Three trees filled with birds represent the changing seasons and the birds’ path through life: nesting, departing, and someday returning to trees connected by the same roots. This piece has extra cadence, as one of the residents participating resided at St. Joseph’s years prior when it was an orphanage, returning in her senior years. As with the Rouse project, the residents were interviewed so that their stories could live on as the building continues to change.
